A full-time remote team member who is a passionate, talented and experienced WordPress developer looking for a new career with a well-established Canadian digital marketing agency.
As a Full-Stack WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining websites, themes, and plugins. You will work with a team of project managers, SEOs, content writers, designers, and other frontend and backend developers to maintain and deliver high-quality, scalable, and pixel-perfect websites, plugins, and 3rd party API integrations for Wisevu and its clients. You will also be responsible for ensuring the security, performance, and scalability of the websites and implementing best practices.
What you will do:
Responsibilities
- Communicate and collaborate with project managers, content writers, designers, front-end developers, SEO’s, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery and maintenance.
- Develop, and maintain WordPress websites and plugins using best practices.
- Optimize website performance and ensure responsiveness across all devices.
- Write clean, modular, and reusable code that adheres to industry standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with designers to convert designs into responsive web pages
- Optimize website performance and ensure adherence to SEO best practices
- Implement APIs and integrate third-party solutions
- Customize 3rd party and Wisevu’s very own WordPress plugins
- Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise with client websites
- Stay up-to-date on the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and security best practices
- Contribute to the growth and development of the team by sharing knowledge and mentoring junior developers.
- Work on building out Standard Operating Procedures and processes related to web development
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience as a Full-Stack WordPress Developer
- 2+ years of web development agency experience
Technical:
- Strong knowledge of WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin development
- In-depth knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JSON, and JavaScript
- Good understanding of SEO best practices as it pertains to web development
- Knowledge of WordPress REST API
- Familiarity with advanced website optimization techniques including but not limited to; caching, lazy loading, and asset optimization
- Understanding of website security best practices and ability to implement them
- Experience with version control systems like Git
Additional Skills:
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects and tasks at once
Technological:
- A workspace free of distraction. This job is for someone who enjoys working from home vs a "digital nomad" who is often moving around, which has proven to be very distracting and inefficient.
- A download speed of at least 30 Mbps and upload speed of at least 10 Mbps.
Work timings:
- Able to provide at least 6 hours of overlap with the 9am-5pm EST workday (Monday - Friday)
